About
Kaitie McCue is an interdisciplinary artist with a focus in textiles and ceramics. A lifelong passion for creating began in high school, where Kaitie began painting and later expanded into different mediums in college. Kaitie was introduced to sewing at a young age by her grandmother, an experience that has shaped much of her artistic practice today.
Her work is deeply influenced by her personal experiences and complex relationship with the women in her life. Themes of body dysmorphia, self-reflection, and identity are central to her art, as she seeks to explore the intricacies of being a woman in a world where her maternal lineage is scarce. Through her art, Kaitie confronts the delicate balance of strength and vulnerability, often meditating on how she views herself and how society views women.
Kaitie graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art and Art History, and has exhibited at the Martin Wong Gallery at San Francisco State University. In her practice, she aims to reclaim and redefine the narrative surrounding womanhood, expressing the complexities of life and how familial structures shape personal histories.
